The city of Trenton was amalgamated in 1998 with the Village of Frankford and the Townships of Murray and Sidney to form Quinte West. In addition to Trenton and Frankford, Quinte West includes communities such as Barcovan Beach, Carrying Place, Stockdale, Twelve O’Clock Point, Wooler, and Weller’s Bay.
Quinte West is a vibrant waterfront community and the home of CFB Trenton, the hub of air transport operations in Canada. The Trent River runs through Trenton, and forms a significant part of the Trent-Severn Waterway, extending from the Bay of Quinte at the south end of the city, northwest to Georgian Bay, via a series of lakes, rivers, and canals. The east side of the river is predominantly spread around CFB Trenton, in addition to commercial plazas on the south and north sides.
